Learn Oud Online
Live one-to-one oud lessons by video call with Wael Salah, for students anywhere in the world. Not pre-recorded videos: you play, you get corrected, and you build a solid foundation step by step.

Live lessons, not a video library
Recorded courses are useful, but they cannot hear your plectrum or see your left hand. In a live online lesson your teacher watches and listens, corrects posture and intonation on the spot, and adjusts the pace to you. You can still record the lesson to review while practising.
Who it is for
- Complete beginners, including adults starting from zero.
- Players who taught themselves and want their technique checked.
- Intermediate students working on maqamat and taqasim.
- Students outside the Arab world who want lessons in English.
What you will learn
- Holding the oud, plectrum (risha) technique and the left hand on a fretless neck.
- Tuning and listening for quarter tones.
- Arabic maqamat such as Rast, Bayati, Hijaz, Nahawand, Kurd and Saba.
- Classic pieces and songs, and first steps in improvisation.
- A practice routine you can keep between lessons.
How it works from your country
Lessons run by video call, in English or Arabic. Times are agreed when you book, taking your time zone into account. You need a stable connection, a quiet room and a camera that shows both hands and the oud. Because of connection delay we work in turns: the teacher plays, you repeat, and corrections follow.
Prices
Prices are in UAE dirhams: a single 40-minute lesson is AED 300 and the 8-lesson course is AED 2,000. If you pay from abroad, your bank converts the amount to your currency. The first step is a paid trial lesson (not free), so you can see whether the approach suits you before committing to a course.
